Lent, is a 40 day season of self denial and contemplation of one’s sins, representing Jesus 40 days of temptation in the wilderness. This year Lent comes to a end on April 1, 2018 in the joyous celebration of the LORD’s resurrection on Easter.
The primary purpose of Lent is to help us become truly holy – and we should work toward this goal during Lent by extra prayer, penance, good works, almsgiving, attendance at Mass and reception of the Sacraments. Our Lenten Prayer
Dear Lord, During this holy season of Lent remind us these are the days of salvation. Help us to make it through our difficulties and the trails and temptations of every day life.
Help keep us from evil and help us avoid the pain and hurt sin causes. Remind us to be prayerful and to reflect upon the great sacrifice Jesus made for each one of us. – Amen
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil.”– Luke 4:12
