Respect Life is a parish ministry established to inform and educate parish members on the important issues of life such as abortion, contraception, and euthanasia. It is part of the larger archdiocesan effort of the Office of Life, Justice and Peace. At the parish level, efforts are made to keep parishioners aware of Church teachings, secular legislation that may have an impact on them as Catholics, and pro-life resources within the community. Throughout the year Respect Life sponsors Baby Bottle Sundays to support our local pregnancy help center, speakers, and a yearly flyer contest for children in the Religious Education Program that marks the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. An ad is run each Sunday in the bulletin offering referrals for post-abortion counseling and help with difficult pregnancies. Various pamphlets and bulletin inserts from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on life issues are also offered frequently as is the opportunity to join others in the community for prayer vigil at a local abortion clinic.
